Spring time is the time to start adding weight back on.

Antlers will soon drop off as they will not likely be needed for a wile, besides, a lot of elk have

broken their antlers during last years rut or fighting off predator during the winter.

New ones start growing almost immediately after dropping the old ones off.

Rodents and other animals will know on the old ones for calcium and other mineral.
